ECO Food Certification

ECO Food Certification ECO Food Certification ECO Food Certification

With the expressions included in the legal regulations, organic product or ecological product, from the seed characteristics to the cultivation and harvesting from the field, from the harvest to the delivery to the consumers' table, no chemical additives harmful to human health are used, different methods are not used, without harming other living things in nature. controlled and certified agricultural products where production is made.

In recent years, due to the increase in the population and the need for more foodstuffs for people to feed, as well as the fact that many different agricultural products can be marketed to very distant countries and the ambition to gain more and more commercially, agricultural products are played with the gene structure, More chemicals are used and agricultural products are becoming more and more dangerous for human health.

Chemical residues left by misused or deliberately used chemicals in agricultural products unfortunately threaten human health, causing the emergence and development of many diseases ranging from various types of cancer to reproductive disorders, from nervous system disorders to immune system disorders. According to the results of the research, these chemical residues are passed on to babies even during pregnancy and breastfeeding and children are most affected by this situation.

The mixing of chemical residues with water and nature both during the cultivation period and after consumption of these foods poses a great danger for nature. Also, it should not be forgotten that these chemical residues accumulated in the fat tissues of animals fed by nature or animals fed with animal foods containing these residues are returned to humans once again, this time with these animal foods. This is a dangerous vicious circle and a great danger to people's future if no action is taken.

What Does Ecological Markets Mean?

When traditional farming methods started to be so unhealthy, alternative to natural conditions were started again, and today ecological products or organic product growing methods have started to be used again. However, on the other hand, there is a confusion of concepts. Today, the terms ecological farming, organic farming or biological farming all have the same meaning. However, in addition to these, expressions such as natural, natural, hormone-free, pure, pure, XNUMX%, genuine or village product are a deception and do not have any legal basis and do not have any assurance that they are healthy. But at the end of the efforts in this direction, consumers are now becoming more conscious.

For example, an agricultural product may actually be produced without using hormones. However, this does not mean that the product is ecological. Only that product does not contain hormones, but artificial fertilizers or some pesticides may have been used in its production. This situation prevents the product from being considered ecological.

In this respect, ecological markets are markets that are completely managed and controlled according to ecological market standards and traceability conditions. Ecological markets are the result of efforts to restore the natural balance that deteriorated in ecological systems as a result of misapplications, either knowingly or unknowingly. With the regulations and published domestic and foreign standards, production systems suitable for the natural environment and the health of all living things, including humans, are encouraged and the use of synthetic fertilizers and chemical drugs is prohibited. In addition, natural production systems such as organic and green fertilization, planting change (alternation), soil protection, increasing the resistance of plants, benefiting from natural parasites and predatory insects are tried to be adopted. In this way, it not only aims to increase the amount in production, but also to increase the quality of the product.

What is ECO Food Standard?

Ecological farming method is a method that will be accepted and spread by the masses with the awareness of not only the producers but also the consumers. The responsibility of the official organs of the state in this matter is very high and a lot of progress has been made in this regard with the legal regulations issued in recent years. In addition, standards and certification systems developed by domestic and foreign organizations also make a great contribution.

In this respect, the ECO Foof standard developed by our organization also meets a great need and creates an opportunity for people to approach and use ecological products more safely. The basic approach of this standard is to turn to natural resources in plant and animal production, to use natural raw materials and to resources that do not threaten the natural environment. For this, first of all, it is necessary to improve the cultivation areas and protect the microorganisms in the soil. The fertility of the soil should be increased by natural methods, the soil should be improved by natural methods, organic fertilizers should be used and alternate planting should be done. The first condition to obtain ecological products is to support the biological activities of the soil.

The ECO Foof standard takes into account the ecological conditions of agricultural areas and animal breeding areas in crop production and animal breeding and the effects of contaminants in these conditions. In general, this is very important for the protection of the country's biological diversity. There will be no harmful organisms in natural areas. Of course, combating them is a part of ecological farming methods. However, what is important here is that the biotechnical methods, biological control types and cultural measures applied should not threaten the plant and animal production. However, vegetable or mineral based chemicals can be used provided that they stay within the specified limits.

Why ECO Food Certification is Important?

Until 1972, ecological farming practices are rarely mentioned. For the first time at that time, the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) was established and different ecological agriculture practices were gathered under one roof in various countries. This organization has shaped ecological agricultural practices and prepared regulations and standards in order to achieve a certain common structure. Today, around 150 countries are members of this organization and ecological farming practices are now carried out in a certain standard throughout the world. Agricultural policies implemented in our country support these studies.

Our organization has developed ECO Food standards in parallel with these studies and carries out ECO Food certification studies for the enterprises that request.

In our country, ecological agriculture or organic agriculture studies are becoming more common and the demand of consumers for these products is increasing. Businesses operating in line with the principles of ECO Food ecological product standard can obtain the ECO Food standard certificate if they request from our organization. After the necessary inspection studies and various analyzes, if it is determined that the enterprise is producing in accordance with the conditions, the ECO Food certificate is issued and delivered to the enterprise. The validity period of this document is three years. However, if an improper situation is detected in the surveillance audits to be carried out every year, it is requested to eliminate this nonconformity, which will be given time to the enterprise. Otherwise, the issued ECO Food certificate may be canceled.

If businesses hold the ECO Food certificate, of course, they will have many privileges, but most of all, they will fulfill their responsibilities to leave a more livable and ecological world to future generations, which is more important than anything else. The most serious problem of today is to think only of today and live today with the ambition to earn only, and to remain insensitive to future generations. If it goes on like this, the soil will no longer be able to produce crops, the air will not be breathing, and genetically modified food will shorten human life more and more.

In this respect, all businesses operating in agriculture must have ECOmark, ECO Food or other ecological certificates and actually produce under the conditions required by these standards.

Our country is an agricultural country and the ECO Food standard is designed based on our country's agricultural products, geographical location, product variety, production preferences and food requirements. While designing this standard, the FSSC 22000 Food Safety System standard, which is widely accepted all over the world, is based on food safety. This standard has been published in our country as TS EN ISO 22000 Food safety management systems - Requirements standard for organizations in the food chain. However, the ECO Food standard is a food-based standard, and the ECOMark® Ecological Product Certification Program developed by our organization is taken into account in the evaluation and certification studies.

Businesses that apply the ECO Food standard and obtain the ECO Food certificate can put an ECO Food label on the food they produce, in order to use them in promotion and marketing activities. Businesses that use this label in their products have expressed to all consumers that they fulfill their responsibilities to protect human health and nature. At the same time, thanks to this label in all foreign markets, especially in the European Union countries, it has proven themselves to people who are sensitive about this issue. This will naturally put businesses one step ahead of their competitors.

It is not mandatory to apply the ECO Food standard. Businesses can voluntarily apply this standard. However, it is an advantage to have an ECO Food certificate in order not to encounter any commercial obstacles against the legal regulations of foreign countries.

Basic Structure of ECO Food Standard

Our organization has developed the ECO Food standard in order to protect the health of people and all living things in nature and to ensure that the ecological cycle of nature is not damaged. In this respect, while designing the standard, standards developed by domestic and foreign organizations have been taken into account. Commonly used standards in this regard are:

  • BRC Food Food Safety System (BRC, British Retail Consortium, British Retail Consortium)
  • IFS International Food Standard (IFS, International Food Standard)
  • FSSC 22000 Food Safety Management System (FSSC, Food Safety System Certification, Food Safety Certification Body)
  • TS EN ISO 14024 Environmental labels and declarations - Type 1: Environmental labeling - Principles and methods standard
  • TS EN ISO 14044 Environmental management - Lifetime assessment - Requirements and guideline standard

The basic structure of the ECO Food standard is based on the following principles:

  • The production of foodstuffs should be carried out in completely natural conditions.

Agricultural products used as raw materials should be produced without harming the natural environment in any way.

Agricultural pesticides or chemical substances to be used in combating pests within the framework of the conditions of the natural environment should be used within the determined limit values and these values should definitely not be exceeded.

The food produced should disappear spontaneously and quickly in the natural environment after consumption.

Packaging materials used in the packaging of foodstuffs should be in harmony with nature and should not harm the natural environment.

The important point here is this: Foodstuffs produced by businesses holding ECU Food certification and bearing the ECO Food label should not be considered to be of high quality. This document and label is a proof that the foodstuff is produced under completely natural conditions and without harming the nature. However, such a food item cannot be considered to be of poor quality.

While developing the ECO Food standard In addition to human health, it aims to prevent the destruction of nature significantly.
