Eco © Standard

View Standard (Original English)

As the awareness of nature conservation rises, manufacturers and consumers, and society as a whole, attach more importance to the environmental impact of a product when it is produced, used and waste. In this sense, ecological labels are an application that shows how environmentally friendly products or services can be in their entire life cycle, how sensitive they are to nature and how well they fulfill environmental requirements.

Our company Ekomark © has developed the Ekomark © Standard with this sense of responsibility. Products and services that carry the Ekomark © Label will be different from similar products and services on the market.

According to the Ekomark © Standard, there is no obligation to get an ecological label, this is a completely voluntary application. This application is a system that envisages consumers to turn more towards environmentally friendly products.

However, the Ekomark © Standard, which is a completely unique standard, provides a serious competitive advantage to the companies that obtain the Ekomark © Label on their products and services, as well as providing evidence of the reliability of these products and services.

There are many ecological label programs developed not only in Europe but also in various countries of the world today.

ECO Certificate (ECOMARK)
ECO Certificate (ECOMARK)

Ekomark © Standard determines the criteria to be complied with for the establishment and implementation of the European Union Eco-Label System or Ecological Label System.

1.2 Purpose

The Ekomark © Standard applies to products and services shipped to countries of the European Union for distribution, consumption or use.

Ekomark © Standard is not used for medical products used for human health, veterinary products used for animal health and any medical devices.

1.3 Definitions

Product group: products with common purposes, similar usage patterns, similar functional characteristics and similar in terms of consumer perception.

Environmental impact: changes in the environment of a product, in whole or in part, during the life cycle.

Verification: the process of determining whether a product meets the criteria of the European Union Eco-Label System.

2. General Conditions for Ekomark © Standard

  • The Ekomark © Standard is based on the environmental performance of the products, taking into account the strategic objectives of the European Union in the field of environment.
  • The Ekomark © Standard specifies the environmental conditions of a product that meet the criteria of the European Union Eco-Label System.
  • The Ekomark © Standard applies the criteria of the European Union Eco-Label System, taking into account the entire life cycle of the products and applies them on scientific basis. The most important environmental impacts are climate change, nature and biodiversity, energy and resource consumption, waste generation, emissions and release of hazardous substances into the air.
  • Ekomark © Standard has the criteria to meet the intended usage of the products.

3. Ekomark © Standard Certification Works

The stages of the certification work under the Ekomark © Standard are as follows:

3.1 Ekomark © Certification Application Stage

For products or services Ekomark © certification For companies requesting a study, a preliminary assessment is carried out after the application is received.

In this context, possible environmental benefits are evaluated regarding the product group, taking into account ISO 14024 Ecological labels and declarations, principles and methods standard and similar national and international standards.

Verification is done for the product, that is, the certification is found to be in the right product group. Also possible commercial issues and other environmental impacts are analyzed.

Existing legal regulations and other initiatives concerning the sector of the product group are taken into consideration.

Alternative materials and design methods for safer production and the ways to use safer substances that can replace dangerous substances are analyzed.

The market share in the sector is evaluated including the volume and turnover possibilities of the product. It also takes into account what the market share of the product will be, including the European Union market today and in the future.

3.2 Ekomark © Certification Contract Phase

After the application is received, a contract is made with the company requesting certification for products and services. This agreement shall contain provisions that determine the terms of the service to be rendered and the responsibilities and obligations of both parties.

After the contract to be made, documents, statements, test results and similar information proving that the products or services meet the Eco-Label criteria are requested from the company. After the preliminary evaluation to be made, the application of the company is sent to the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, which is determined as the authorized institution in the ecological label system, in order to get an opinion.

3.3 Ekomark © Certification Sample Acceptance

Ekomark © Tag In order to carry out the test and analysis of the product to be placed, the company must deliver a sample from the product. In order to attach the Ekomark © Label to the product, the sample must meet the criteria determined by the European Union Eco-Label Board.

In determining these criteria, every stage has been taken into consideration from raw material selection for production to production, distribution of finished products, offering to the consumer, consumption and recycling when the use is finished.

3.4 Ekomark © Certification Testing

Product tests must be carried out in laboratories operating in accordance with the General Conditions for the Qualification of ISO 17025 Test and Calibration Laboratories or in a laboratory accredited by an equivalent system of this standard. A list of these laboratories is available on the website of the European Accreditation Agency.

The tests are used to determine that the environmental impact of the product to be placed on Ekomark © Label is reduced throughout the whole life cycle from raw material extraction to production, consumption and destruction. In this respect, Ekomark © Label also contributes to energy usage, waste reduction and environmental awareness.

3.5 Ekomark © Certification Approval Phase

After the test and analysis studies are completed and it is determined that the sample complies with the criteria determined by the European Union Eco-Label Board, the order comes to the approval stage. However, in the meantime, the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization should have received the appropriate opinion.

3.6 Ekomark © Certification Label Usage Permission

The last step of the certification studies carried out by our organization Ekomark © is to give permission to use the label. After it has been determined that the products and services of the company comply with the criteria set by the European Union on the basis of product groups within the framework of Ekomark © Standard and meet all the necessary conditions, the manufacturer is allowed to place Ekomark © Label on its products or services.

Companies can place the Ekomark © Label on their products in accordance with the following standards:

Ekomark ©: AAAA / BBB / CCCCC

Here AAAA refers to the country code, BBB product group and CCCCC refers to the number given by the competent authority.

4. Meaning of Ekomark © Tag

When our company Ekomark © performs certification studies upon the request of the company and allows the company to use the Ekomark © Label, the products bearing this label express the following:

  • The damage to the natural environment is very low
  • The product is manufactured in accordance with natural conditions.
  • The product vanishes spontaneously in a natural environment.
  • The packaging on the product has no negative effect on nature.
  • It is not a guarantee of product quality but evokes the quality of the product.

5. Legal Basis

The Ecological Label System, or Eco-Label System, was established by the European Union Council of Ministers with the regulation issued in 1992. In 2010, this regulation was reconsidered and updated and published as the Eco-Label Regulation No. 66/2010/EC. Ekomark © Standard has also been prepared on the basis of this regulation.

The working group responsible for the development and revision of the criteria at the ECO-Etiket Board of the European Union deals with the entire life cycle of the products and develops criteria for each product group in order to reduce the negative impact on the environment. The working group meets about three times a year, either considering the applicability of criteria, various developmental analyzes, environmental and market research and the current life cycle of the products, or revising or, if necessary, making new analyzes and preparing a draft. The draft is approved and published at the latest Eco-Label Board of Directors. These decisions are then voted on in each country's own legislative boards.

6. Determination of Criteria

As the European Union develops criteria for products and services, it focuses on at which stage these products and services have an impact on the environment at most. This naturally varies from product to product. For example, if you take a look at textiles, the environmental effects of dyeing, bleaching or printing are high in factories. Therefore, while setting criteria for the textile product group, the experts aimed to reduce harmful effects during production as much as possible. In addition, electronic products create a high environmental risk during use. While determining the criteria in this product group, energy consumption of these products was focused on.

ecological label The aim of the application is to provide consumers access to greener products and services. Consumers can easily identify a product or service with the Ekomark © Tag. This system, which is expanding the product and service groups over time and creating new product groups, is applied for any product or service in all other sectors except food, beverage, pharmaceutical and medical products.

The criteria specified for the above types of service are generally valid for three to five years, as in the product group criteria. In case of ecological criteria, it is possible to review and renew it before the end of the period. If these criteria have been revised, it may be necessary to renew the contracts of the companies that have been granted permission to use the Ekomark © Tag. In this case, companies are usually given 12 months to comply with the new criteria.

If the period in which the criteria apply is extended, these contracts are automatically renewed until the end of the period in which the service criteria apply. In other words, companies that have obtained the permission to use the Ekomark © Tag can use these permissions until the expiry date.

Cleaning Products Eco Certification

As it is known, in the process of joining the European Union, countries have to harmonize their legal regulations with the European Union legislation. Our country has to make new regulations in many areas, taking into account the legal regulations and practices of the European Union. Among these areas is the Eco-Label System. This system was put into practice in the European Union countries in 1992, but with the Council's directive 1980/2000 (EC), it joined the legislation harmonization studies. Despite this, the necessary work for integration has not started immediately. ECO Label USA is also in high demand from the European Union. Europe and the United States do not have the same labeling system, they are different projects.

Since these studies have not been completed yet, the flower logo, which is the ECO Label Eco-Label, is not yet given in our country. In the face of these developments, our organization has developed the Ekomark © Standard, taking into account the conditions and needs of our country, and it is available to companies if requested. Ekomark © Tag use. Our organization has been authorized by the foreign accreditation institution.

Cleaning products are also included in the product groups determined by the ECO Label. Cleaning product group, especially in terms of the chemicals they contain in their formulas. Ekomark © Standard is an important item within the scope. This product group consists of five different categories:

In the current century, transparency has been the most important factor that has shaped the way businesses are engaged in trade, production and business. All information must be made available to the consumer, such as when, under what conditions and where a product or service is produced, which raw materials are used in production, how it is packaged and distributed, how it should be used, and how it can be disposed of and reused. In today's world where trade is so globalized, the life cycle of a product described above does not always occur within the national borders of a country. This cycle can cross the borders of more than one country. In this way, with its international expansion, every corner of the world forms a large network in terms of production, distribution and consumption. Therefore, the entire life cycle of the products needs to be kept under control with reliable and clear data and established criteria and standards.

Today this control traffic ecological labels can be provided with Ecological labels play a critical role in monitoring this entire life cycle. The number of ecological labels worldwide has exceeded three hundred. Although on a voluntary basis, ecological labels have increasingly become one of the basic elements of commercial activity and are accepted as a way of doing business.

Our company Ekomark © has developed the Ekomark © Standard with the same thoughts and sense of responsibility. Ekomark © Standard fully designed in accordance with the conditions, needs and legal regulations of our country.

Attached to products and services Ekomark © Tag The environmental impacts of these products and services are monitored and evaluated throughout the life cycle. In this way, Ekomark © Etiketi provides an important benefit in decreasing the risks of the enterprises, catching new opportunities, expanding its activities, ensuring continuity in the markets and entering new markets.

There is no product group specifically related to energy among the product groups to which Ekomark © Standard is applied. However, when the product groups specified for the criteria are considered individually, each product group requires the use of air, water and energy within itself. In this respect, the criteria for effective use of energy resources on a product basis should be considered separately.

Similarly, criteria for energy consumption and protection of energy resources will be determined for a number of product groups in which criterion development studies are in progress. Among these product groups are the following: office lighting products, home lighting products, home cooling products, heat pumps, desktop computers, laptops, printing machines, washing machines, heating systems, water consuming products, display devices, home cooking products, toys, sanitary products and fittings.

In these studies, our organization Ekomark © is doing its part. The world population is growing rapidly and resources are being consumed at the same rate. In this sense, people need to be more conscious about the efficient use of energy and environmental pollution. It is therefore important that consumers distinguish more environmentally friendly products and services than their counterparts. The Ekomark © Tag is provided for this purpose.

Countries that implement the Eco-Label or ecological label system have to identify the official bodies responsible for ecological labeling activities within themselves and determine the duties, powers and responsibilities of these official bodies. In this context, ECO Label has been appointed as the organization operating in the ecological label system in countries. An Environmental Management System has been established in accordance with the Environmental Impact Assessment within the certification body.

In accordance with the European Union legislation, the nature, independence and impartiality of the organization in question are guaranteed. It is also responsible for the correct implementation of the European Union directive provisions.

Our company Ekomark © is aware of its environmental awareness, environmental sensitivity and responsibilities. Ekomark © Standard has been developed for this purpose. Within the product groups to which this standard applies, there is no product group specifically aimed at the main activity of the construction. However, the criteria for the paints and varnishes product group and the floor coverings product group were determined.

The paints and varnishes product range includes wood paints and related products, both developed and marketed for interior use, designed for both personal and professional use. To this product group, floor coverings and floor paints. In addition, paints colored on request, with paints specially prepared to meet the needs of consumers includes all decorative paints including primers and primers.

over the Ekomark © Tag It is proved that the amount of white pigments is low, the pigments are produced in accordance with environmental criteria, there is a very low amount of solvent release and the product does not contain heavy metals, carcinogenic or toxic substances.

In the same way, it is proven that more than 90 by mass of wood flooring is made of wood or wood-based materials. This criterion does not include wall coverings or facade coverings. Ekomark © Label products use recycled fibers or raw fibers from sustainable forests. The use of substances harmful to human health and nature is restricted.

In addition, efforts are under way to determine a number of new criteria for buildings under the Ekomark © Standard. In this study, three-stage criteria such as project and construction phase, usage and maintenance phase and repair and end of life phase will be determined. The purpose of these criteria is to limit the basic environmental impacts in the life cycle of buildings.

The criteria to be determined will encourage energy, water and material consumption limitation, waste production reduction and recycling, the use of environmentally friendly materials, the use of environmentally friendly materials and the proper management of buildings.

our organization © Ekomarinoperates with a sense of responsibility for the development and implementation of new criteria in buildings as well as in other product groups.

Aquaculture Eco Certification

Our organization Ekomark© has designed the Ekomark© Standard directly in accordance with the conditions of our country, based on the ecological label system put into practice by the European Union in 1992. products and services to demanding companies. Ekomark © Tag The European Union complies with the criteria set by the European Union on the basis of product groups. If products and services comply with these criteria, they also allow companies to use the Ekomark © Tag, taking into account the best practice and performance conditions.

The most important factor in determining these criteria is the environmental impact of the products or services. In terms of human and animal health and environment, it is taken into consideration whether these products and services harm the nature or to what extent they are harmful. The environmental impacts that are generally taken into account when setting criteria are: environmental pollution, energy consumption and management, waste generation and management, resource use and depletion, natural resource management, biodiversity, ecological system health and human health.

Today, environmental pollution threatens the future of mankind. Green areas are gradually decreasing, and the ozone layer becomes thinner every day. Air pollution has reached extreme levels. In particular, water resources are severely damaged. All these negativities have created a sensitive public opinion in developed countries.

With the development of technology and industrialization, many different products have emerged in the world markets and many different methods have been obtained in obtaining these products. Therefore, in order to implement a sustainable environmental policy, it is necessary to be sensitive to the environment from the raw material input to production, distribution, consumption and recycling of waste.

As in the European Union countries, our country is more sensitive to environmental problems and public awareness is developing rapidly in this direction. In the markets, consumers' interest towards environmentally friendly products is also increasing.

our organization © Ekomarin, acting with this sense of responsibility, has developed the Ekomark © Standard. There is no direct water-oriented group among the product groups to which this standard is applied, but since water is a basic requirement and water is needed somewhere in the production, use and destruction stages of the products grouped in the ecological label system, many product groups indirectly include water-related criteria. contains.

Companies using the Ekomark © Tag will have created a reputation for both their businesses and products and services. This also means new customers and new markets.

While the European Union started the ecological label application, it tried to eliminate the differences in the practices of the member states and to create a common system. Member states have adopted this label in their legal regulations, but still have created their own national ecological labels. Blue Angel in Germany and Nordic Swan in Scandinavian countries are examples. In our country too Ekomark © Standard In this way, it was developed completely in accordance with the conditions of our country. In this way, both application prevalence was desired and national product groups not included in the European Union Eco-Etike system were included in the system.

Countries that are sensitive to environmental conditions and are concerned about leaving a more livable and cleaner environment for the future agree that economic growth should be independent of natural resources. In this respect, the European Union ecological tag system or eco-label system, designed by other countries such as the German Blue Angel and Nordic Swan (Scandinavian Swan) applications in our country by our organization and completely developed by considering the conditions of our country in an original way Ekomark © Standardhas made significant progress on climate change, energy efficiency, healthy or hazardous materials, natural resources and wastes (even if recycled).

our Country Ekomark © TagIn addition to numerous products, it also includes a number of services including campsites and tourist accommodation services. While determining the criteria for products and services, they are based on the whole life cycle from the design to the destruction and the effects on the environment are examined extensively. The validity period of these criteria is three years. Both the developments in science and technology, the new techniques and methods arising from them, and the developments in market conditions may require updating of the determined criteria.

When granting permission to use the Ekomark © Label for products and services, it is observed whether these criteria are met as well as meeting the best practice and performance conditions.

Cleaning products are among these product groups. The cleaning product group is an important item in Ekomark © Standard especially in terms of the chemical substances they contain in their formulas. This product group consists of five different categories:

  • General cleaners
  • Dishwasher detergent
  • Dishwashing liquid
  • Laundry detergents
  • Soap, shampoo and conditioners

However, in addition to cleaning agents, other product groups also contain chemicals. For example,

  • textile products
  • Paints and varnishes
  • Floor coatings
  • Growing media and soil conditioners
  • oils

Air pollution, inadequate water quality and hygiene and hazardous chemicals are among the most important health problems related to the environment.

The Regulation on the Classification, Packaging and Labeling of Dangerous Substances and Preparations in the 2008 was issued by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in our country on dangerous chemical substances. This regulation is based on the directives 67 / 548 / EEC and 1999 / 45 / EC of the European Union. The purpose of the regulation is to provide effective control and supervision against the adverse effects of dangerous substances and products on the human health and environmental conditions and to regulate the principles for classification, labeling and packaging of these substances.

While determining Ekomark © Standard, our company has taken into consideration the principles of this regulation. This standard covers the following products: medical products for human health or veterinary services, cosmetic products, foodstuffs, mixtures of waste materials, animal feeds, radioactive substances and products containing radioactive substances, medical devices having direct contact with the human body.

Companies carrying Ekomark © Label in their products and services will always have competitive advantage.

Agricultural Products Eco Certification

Our organization Ekomark © has developed and implemented the Ekomark © Standard in our country within the framework of the creation and dissemination of various ecological labels initiated by the European Union in order to minimize the damage they cause to nature during the production, use and destruction of products and services.

Ekomark © Standard to develop, produce and market products and services that do not harm the environment. Ekomark © Tag intended to separate. With the Ekomark © Standard, consumers are also conscious of the negative effects of these products and services on the environment. There is no obligation for companies to set up the Ekomark © Standard or any ecological label application in their businesses. This system is completely voluntary. However, companies that offer products and services especially to the European Union should be conscious and attentive in this regard.

In order to place Ekomark © Tag on the products and services offered to consumers, compliance with the criteria specified for the product groups in which these products and services are included is sought. In determining these criteria, various stages in the whole life cycle of the product are taken into consideration until the selection of raw materials for the product or service, production works, distribution, consumption and use are recycled when completed.

In our country, the Regulation on Good Agricultural Practices was issued by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock in 2010. This regulation aims to ensure that agricultural production is carried out in a way that does not harm human and animal health and natural conditions. It also regulates the principles of good agricultural practices that will ensure the protection of natural resources, the traceability and sustainability of agricultural activities, and the provision of reliable products to consumers in short.

Again by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs in 2010 Implementing Regulation on Principles and Application of Organic Agriculture was issued. This regulation, on the other hand, protects the ecological balance and regulates the principles for ensuring organic agricultural production and regulating, developing and expanding marketing conditions.

Both regulations aim to carry out agricultural activities in a way that will not harm human and animal health and protect the environment in our country.

The ecological label system launched in the European Union countries or Eco-Label In this framework, product groups have been established for the growing environment and soil healing materials and criteria have been determined.

When determining the criteria within the scope of growing environment product group, materials other than soil used in the environment in which the plants are grown are taken as basis. While determining the criteria within the scope of soil healing materials product group, the materials to be added to the soil were taken as basis in order to improve the physical properties of the soil, to protect the soil, to increase the chemical and biological properties of the soil and to increase the fertility of the soil.

Products manufactured in accordance with these criteria and bearing the Ekomark © Label have proven that recycled organic material is used during production, that it does not contain peat, that it does not contain bacteria, and that the soil is not contaminated with heavy metals or residual pesticides. At the same time, consumers are informed about the transportation and processing of the product.

Food Products Eco Certification

The ecological label or Eco-Label system is a system that was put into practice by the European Union in 1992, but before this system, a series of guidance standards were prepared and published by the International Standards Organization on environmental labels in the same years, unlike the certification standards. These standards are:

  • TS EN ISO 14020 Ecological labels and statements - General principles
  • TS EN ISO 14024 Ecological labels and declarations - Type 1: Environmental labeling - Principles and methods
  • TS EN ISO 14021 Ecological labels and declarations - Type 2: Environmental labels - Self-declaration of environmental claims
  • TS EN ISO 14025 Ecological labels and declarations - Type 3: Environmental declarations - Principles and procedures

our Country Ekomark © Standard is based on the Eco-Label system implemented in the European Union. Companies that meet these standard requirements are permitted to use Ekomark © Tagaims to create a market advantage for environmentally preferred products.

The goal of Ekomark © Standard is to create an environment where consumers can prefer products that are good in terms of environmental conditions. The purpose of all ecological labels is to ensure that products without this label are cleared from the market and to force manufacturers to renew their production processes with techniques and methods that will not harm the environment. These companies will only be able to re-enter the market after making environmentally friendly improvements in their businesses. All environmental labels, including Ekomark © Label, show that products bearing this label are priority products in terms of natural conditions. Consumers are also encouraged to buy products by looking at the environmental characteristics of the products.

Our organization Ekomark©, as mentioned above, is the Ekomark applied in the European Union.ecological Label (Eco-Label) system and the main feature of this system, food, beverages, pharmaceuticals and medical products produced in areas other than products and services are covered. Since the first implementation, the scope of the application has been expanded and new groups are continuously added to the system.

However, not only in the European Union countries, but also around the world, consumers want to learn about the sources and sustainability of the food products they use. The demands in this direction are increasing and the use of ecological labels in food products is on the agenda. Today, there is no product category in the European Union Environmental Label (Eco-Label) system for food and feed products. However, studies are continuing on the inclusion of food and feed in the practice.

The above-mentioned ISO 14000 series of standards prepared by the International Standards Organization is designed to perform standardization, also called green labeling. The aim is for consumers to see which product is environmentally friendly. These standards, while improving the environmental awareness of consumers on the one hand, while at the same time compelling manufacturers to take an environmentalist attitude.

The purpose of green labeling is to promote the production and use of products that are less harmful to the environment. With green labeling, consumers are more sensitive to health and environment and prefer non-harmful products.

ISO has defined three different ecological labels with the above-mentioned standards on environmentally sensitive labels.

Textile Products Eco Certification

The Ekomark © Tag is mainly associated with products and services. It is also generally displayed on the product packaging, on the company's website or in product catalogs.

Today, there are many ecological labels not only in the European Union countries but all over the world. It is also possible to develop different labels. Energy efficiency labels or organic labels are examples. However ecological labelshas different characteristics besides social responsibility and fair trade.

Eco-Label systematic Ekomark © Standard Like the European Union, it is designed within the principles and methods of ISO 14024 Ecological labeling and is a voluntary label system. The determined criteria have features and importance that can create environmental benefits.

In the Ekomark © Standard, all of the criteria are determined considering the effects of the product on the nature throughout the life cycle. In this respect, products and services will be used Ekomark © Tagenables consumers to select products and services that are sensitive to nature protection.

In our increasingly globalized world, the garment and textile sector is experiencing serious competition, especially in the Asian market. In this competitive environment, with the increasing health and environmental awareness, it has become more important that textile and garment products are reliable in terms of health and environment. The fact that these products carry the Ekomark © Label in such an environment will create a significant difference in the eyes of consumers.

Ekomark © Standard has the features to meet the expectations of the customers in European Union countries and even in the whole world.

The textile and apparel industry is one of the largest industrial sectors in the world, both in terms of production and labor. This sector contributes to both the clothing of the people and the living spaces.

The environmental problems such as global climatic changes, harmful residues, toxic chemicals, ozone hole, acid rain, water and air pollution, which are more felt in environmental conditions today, are caused by the textile industry along with other industries. During the production, there is high water consumption in this sector and some chemicals are used and various wastes are caused. Solid or liquid wastes adversely affect the environment. Some chemicals discharged show toxic effects in the nature and create a danger to the decrease of oxygen in the water and both to aquatic organisms and humans.

For all these reasons, the production of environmentally friendly textiles has become more important and the demand for environmentally friendly textile products has increased rapidly. In addition, the Eco-Label system or ecological labeling system is envisaged as a solution in order to prevent the pollution of air and water in this way.

The European Union is an important market in our country's exports, and as a result of the increasing environmental awareness, the countries of the Union attach importance to the production of products that do not harm human health and nature. For this purpose, the Eco-Label system has been applied for nearly twenty years and covers a large number of product groups.
