Ecological Certificate in Textile Products

The ecological label system did not start with the Eco-Label system first developed by the European Union. About 15 years before this system, the Blue Angel Label was put into practice in Germany in 1978. This very old and important label system covers many products other than food and medicine. It is also accepted not only in Germany but also in other countries.

The Blue Angel Label is a system that can also be applied to companies in the textile industry, which pose serious dangers in terms of environmental pollution and almost depletion of natural resources. However, another ecological label has been developed for textile industry companies in Germany. The Ecotex Label has been applied since 1991. This label tries to contribute to the development of ecological fabrics and clothing products and is given to environmentally friendly products. In the Ecotex Label system, some restrictions have been imposed on the use of chlorinated substances, fire retardant substances, allergic dyes and dyes with cancer effect during production. For finished products, limits on heavy metals and pesticide residues have been set and products must be recycled.

There are other national ecological labels as well, all of which assure consumers that these products are natural and produced using environmentally friendly methods.

The Eco-Label system introduced by the European Union in 1992 also includes textile products within its product groups. Original developed by our organization Ekomark © Standard provided that they meet the criteria for testil products. Ekomark © Tag use. Wastes are the biggest danger especially in textile production. A very high amount of waste is produced and the chemicals used in production cause great harm to the environment in this way. Solid and liquid wastes released to nature pose a great danger for the ecosystem, cause poisoning and pose a vital threat.

The textile and apparel industry is one of the largest industrial sectors in the world, both in terms of production and labor. This sector contributes to both the clothing of the people and the living spaces.

The environmental problems such as global climatic changes, harmful residues, toxic chemicals, ozone hole, acid rain, water and air pollution, which are more felt in environmental conditions today, are caused by the textile industry along with other industries. During the production, there is high water consumption in this sector and some chemicals are used and various wastes are caused. Solid or liquid wastes adversely affect the environment. Some chemicals discharged show toxic effects in the nature and create a danger to the decrease of oxygen in the water and both to aquatic organisms and humans.

For all these reasons, the production of environmentally friendly textiles has become more important and the demand for environmentally friendly textile products has increased rapidly. In addition, the Eco-Label system or ecological labeling system is envisaged as a solution in order to prevent the pollution of air and water in this way.

The European Union is an important market in our country's exports, and as a result of the increasing environmental awareness, the countries of the Union attach importance to the production of products that do not harm human health and nature. For this purpose, the Eco-Label system has been applied for nearly twenty years and covers a large number of product groups.
