Ekomark © How it was born

The World Foundation for Nature Conservation is the world's largest and independent nature conservation organization. According to research by this organization, the demand for natural resources has doubled since the 1960 years. In fact, our world must be one and a half times larger for today's activities. This means that more than 50 of natural resources are actually used. If your consumption habits, lifestyle and production methods are not changed, it will have to be twice as big as our world to meet natural resource demands in 2030. Since this is not possible, we need to take steps now. It's even late.

The world's population is estimated to be 2050 billion in 10. It will have to provide water, food and energy to so many people. It must be everyone's duty to protect nature and ensure the survival of living species. Only individuals' awareness is not enough. Official and private organizations should also be determined.

On earth, species and species' habitats are gradually disappearing. The rate of decline in biodiversity after 1970 is 30 percent. In tropical regions, this percentage is around 60. The growth of the hole in the ozone layer, global warming, overpopulation, irresponsible use of natural resources are all effective in this end result.

The rise in food and oil prices is the most important indicator that limited resources are used. Everything depends on the balance of supply and demand. More energy and water resources are needed to meet rising food demand. Production methods and the way people live have to change.

Our company Ekomark © has acted with a sense of responsibility based on all these facts and designed the Ekomark © Standard. Ekomark © Standard has been developed in an original manner only on the basis of our country's mode of production, consumption habits, legal regulations and official policies.

There are two main objectives in the preparation of the Ekomark © Standard: not to harm human health and care for the protection of natural resources. The fact that resources are scarce is a problem not only for consumers but also for producers. Because production needs continuity. For this they have to find the same quality raw material. Therefore, the issue of sustainability has been on the agenda of companies as well as private and public institutions.
